Rachel Beach

Rachel Beach is a Canadian-born, New York City-based artist whose large, painted wood sculptures distill interests in language, architecture, archeology and our human experience of seeing and being. Beach received an MFA from Yale University in 2001 and BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1998. She has been recognized with numerous honors including a National Academy Fellowship at the American Academy in Rome, a Pollock-Krasner grant, Canada Council grants, and residencies at Yaddo, Sharpe-Walentas, LMCC Process Space, the Lower East Side Printshop and Socrates Sculpture Park. Her work has been shown at venues including the Newcomb Art Museum, New Orleans, LA; The Philbrook Museum, Tulsa, OK; Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, Summit, NJ; The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Halifax NS; New Hampshire Institute of Art, NH; PlugIn Institute of Contemporary Art, Winnipeg MA; Lennon Weinberg, NYC; Thierry Goldberg Gallery NYC; Jane Lombard, NYC, LMAK gallery, NYC, Postmasters, NYC and others. Reviews of her work have been featured in The New York Times, Art in America, Sculpture Magazine, Hyperallergic, ArtCritical, NYArts, and The Brooklyn Rail among other publications.
